Dr Jiří Pašta, CSc., FEBO, graduated from the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Hradec Králové and worked from 1980 at ÚVN Prague from 1980 where he headed up the Eye Clinic for many years.
Since 1 January 2013 he has been a Consultant and chief surgeon of the Eye Centre Prague. Dr Pasta is a member of a number of prestigious professional bodies:
He is a consultant registered with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom.
Since 1994 he has been the chief expert of the Army of the Czech Republic for ophthalmology and since 2005 an international instructor of laser surgery for AMO / VISX.
in 1994 Dr Pasta became an honorary member of the Canadian Implantology and Keratorefractive Association.
Dr Radan Zugar graduated from the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague and worked from 2002 as a surgeon at the Eye Department of the Regional Hospital Cologne, Inc.
In January 2011, he started working as a consultant in the Prague Eye Centre and was appointed head of the Centre in September of the same year.
Radan specialises in cataract surgery and performs over 1,000 cataract surgeries a year. He treats the retina, applies anti-VEGF drugs and runs a glaucoma clinic.
In 2017, he was appointed by the Ministry of Health a member of the accreditation commission for the field of specialized education - ophthalmology.
He regularly participates in professional ophthalmological congresses, and is the author or co-author of more than 40 professional theses. He is the chairman of OS ČLK in Kolín and a member of professional societies - the Czech Ophthalmological Society, the Czech Glaucoma Society and the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery.
Dr Michal Janek, graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague. He worked at the Department of Ophthalmology at Příbram Hospital from 1975 till 1984. He was the head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Klatovy Hospital from 1985 to 1997, and the senior doctor at the Eye Microsurgery Centre OFTA from 1998 till 2011.
Michal has been performing cataract surgery at the Eye Centre Prague since 2011, and with nearly 30,000 cataract surgeries he is one of the leading surgeons in the Czech Republic and an important figure in Czech cataract surgery.
He was among the first surgeons to start removing cataracts using laser phacoemulsification and to promote the outpatient form of this surgery. Between 1994 and 1997 he was the scientific secretary of the Czech Ophthalmological Society, and in 1998 he co-founded the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery.
He is also a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He regularly attends professional conferences in the Czech Republic and abroad and enjoys lecturing about the benefits of refractive lens exchange.
Dr Andrea Janeková FEBO graduated from the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague.
In 2012, she completed a several-month internship at the Eye Department of the University Hospital Arnau, Llerida, Spain before taking further courses in Chicago, and Vienna as well as in Lisbon and Barcelona. In May 2019 in Paris, she successfully passed the international European exam in ophthalmology and received the prestigious title of FEBO (Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology).
Since November 2012, she has been working as a specialist ophthalmologist at the Prague Eye Centre. She specializes mainly in refractive and cataract problems dealing particularly with intraocular implants and cataract surgery.
Andrea regularly participates in professional ophthalmological congresses and specialized courses for ophthalmologists in the Czech Republic and abroad. She regularly presents the results of our work at the international congresses of ESCRS (European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery) and SOE (European Society of Ophthalmology)
In her free time, Andrea likes to travel and spend time with her family - especially daughters Amy and Andy. She enjoys snowboarding and yoga. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
Dr Jan Hron runs the Diabetes Centre at the Department of Ophthalmology of Klaudián’s Hospital in Mladá Boleslav.
For the past ten years he has worked at the Eye Centre Prague performing cataract examinations as well as being the head of our Retinal Centre.
He regularly attends specialized ophthalmological congresses and prepares lectures focused primarily on diseases of the retina.
In 1999 Irena Kuželová MD started work at the Department of Ophthalmology of the General Teaching Hospital and simultaneously at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Bulovka Teaching Hospital.
Since 1996, she has been working in her own practice in Kralupy nad Vltavou. She joined us here at the Eye Centre Prague in 2011, where she performs cataract examinations and consultations relating to the choice of contact lenses. She regularly attends specialized ophthalmological congresses.
Lucie Frantlová graduated from the Third Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague. In 2015, she completed an internship at the Clinic of Ophthalmology in the Royal Vinohrady Teaching Hospital in Prague and then other internships in other major hospitals in Prague.
She has also taken English and German language courses passing with flying colours. In addition to her medical work, she works as a translator of English TV films and series, especially those with a medical theme.
Lucie has worked as a senior ophthalmologist at the Eye Centre Prague since February 2017.
Michaela Klementová graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague. In 2013, she completed her English studies at the European School of English in St. Julians. She completed her internship at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Teaching Hospital in Hradec Králové as well as furthering her experience via other internships in teaching hospitals around the country.
Michaela has worked as a senior ophthalmologist at the Eye Centre Prague since August 2017.
In her spare time, she likes doing sports (running, team sports, cycling, in-line skating) and spending time with friends. She enjoys playing the piano, reading, editing, including video editing and meeting new people.
Dr Dana Černohubá studied at the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague. After qualifying as a doctor she furthered her interest in ophthalmology taking part in courses and internships abroad – ESASO Medical Retina module, Surgical Retina module Switzerland, Vienna wetlab course – Surgical Retina.
In 2018 she started working in the Eye Centre Prague as our retinal specialist. Before that she gained considerable experience at the university hospital and at a private clinic in Prague. She mainly focuses on the therapy and diagnostics of the posterior segment of the eye (diseases of the vitreous humour and retina). In our Lighthouse Tower clinic she leads a specialized unit for the treatment of retinal diseases.
She regularly attends conventions both in the Czech Republic and abroad lecturing at international conventions including Euretina 2017 in Barcelona and ISSOCT meeting 2017 in Paris.
In her free time she enjoys sports including cycling and yoga.
Jana studied to become a general nurse at the Secondary Medical School in Prague before completing specialized studies to become an intensive care unit nurse.
From 1996-2001 she worked as a nurse at the Clinic of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care of the General Teaching Hospital in Prague. In 2001-2004 she worked as a nurse in a private eye clinic dedicated to the application of contact lenses.
After her maternity leave she joined the Eye Centre Prague where she has been one of key outpatient nurses since October 2010.
Helena has worked as an operating room head nurse at the Eye Centre Prague since 2000 and is one of our original team.
After finishing her secondary education, she began working for the Surgical Unit in the Central Military Hospital.
From 1979 to 2000 she worked as an OR nurse at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Royal Vinohrady Teaching Hospital.
Daniela qualified as a general nurse at the Secondary Medical School in Prague before undertaking advanced studies at the same school to become an intensive care unit nurse.
After finishing school she started working as a nurse-specialist at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). She then worked as an operating room nurse at an eye clinic in Prague and as a nurse in a paediatric outpatient clinic.
She has worked as an operating room and outpatient nurse at the Eye Centre Prague since September 2017.
Daniela likes doing sports like cycling, skiing, swimming and hiking.
Klára studied first at the Secondary Medical School in Brno and then at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Comenius University followed by time at the Philosophical Faculty of the Masaryk University (Pedagogy).
She initially worked for an eye clinic in Brno and then in Pharmos (a medical distribution company). Besides her medical career, she also works as a private piano teacher.
She started with us as an outpatient nurse at the Eye Centre Prague in 2017.
Klára likes music, playing the piano and reading.
Vanda Dlouhá studied economics at secondary school in Prague. She started her professional career as a secretary before running her own shop with a gallery. A change in direction then led to new experiences working in the health service as both a receptionist and customer care specialist.
She has been working at the Eye Centre Prague since 2017 as chief receptionist, and is the main liaison / point of contact for our English speaking clients.
Vanda likes travelling and reading and she is also interested in culture and design.
Radka started work as a sales assistant in several fashion stores before rising to become a corporate deputy branch manager dealing with employee benefits.
She then joined us to help run our reception team in November 2016.
Radka spends her free time with her family. She likes travelling, photography and reading and is interested in history.
After school Adéla studied business management at the Secondary Hotel School. She worked for many years as a shift supervisor for several restaurants and then as a manager. In 2016, she worked as a receptionist for Tesco Prague till October 2017 when she became part of our reception team.
She likes music (vocals and guitar) and hiking.
